Spanghero, the French meat processing firm at the centre of the horsemeat scandal, has appointed a new CEO.
Serge Renaudin, former chairman of food co-operative Alliance-Cobevial, has replaced Jacques Poujol. No reasons were given for Poujol’s departure.

Renaudin has been tasked with relaunching the company and restoring customer confidence, it said.
In February, Spanghero announced it was abandoning meat trading activities and re-focusing its business on the cutting and preparing of meat
and finished products.
It commissioned consultants Mazars to audit the business with the aim of validating all the firm’s operating processes and improving quality control.
Spanghero has also reinforced internal laboratory procedures for bacteriological inspections and introduced regular DNA testing.
