PepsiCo has sought to tap into consumer interest in so-called super grains and in protein in the US with new products under its Quaker cereal brand.
The company, trying to revitalise Quaker sales in the US, has also developed an instant oatmeal containing stevia.
Quaker Real Medleys Super Grains contains the fruit and nut blend found in the original Real Medleys products, as well as oats, wheat, barley, rye, quinoa and flax.
Quaker Protein Instant Oatmeal includes ten grams of protein and 40 grams of whole grains.
A lower-sugar version of Quaker Instant Oatmeal has also been developed to meet “growing consumer demand”. The cereal contains the sweetener stevia to help reduce the sugar content in the product.
PepsiCo has also introduced Quaker Quick 3-Minute Steel Cut Oatmeal, which it said “cuts the traditional cooking time of 30 minutes to three”.
