The European Commission has today [Friday] approved programmes to provide information on and promote agricultural products within the European Union (EU).
Member States submitted 123 promotion and information programmes to the Commission. 40 programmes, mainly targeting EU consumers, were accepted for co-financing.
The products covered are fruit and vegetables, cheeses and milk products, flowers and green plants and wine, alongside campaigns which provide information on organically produced food. Fifty percent co-financed by the Commission, the estimated expenditure for the EU is €32.1m (US$31.23), whilst the cost of the programmes is €64.2m.
