2 Sisters Food Group has completed the acquisition of a site owned by fellow UK company S&A Foods.

Last week a spokesperson for 2 Sisters said the company was “the lead interested party” in the potential purchase of the facility.

Today, a spokesperson told just-food: “We can confirm the transaction relating to the purchase of the site at Sir Francis Ley Industrial Estate, Shaftsbury Street South, Derby has now been completed and the site will be operated by 2 Sisters Food Group.

“The 2 Sisters team is actively working up plans to develop the site and will be looking to engage with the local workforce through a number of recruitment days over the coming weeks”.

The spokesperson said 2 Sisters had yet to decide when it would move into the factory or on the number of staff to be employed at the site.

S&A Foods fell into administration in October with 300 staff losing their jobs. It said the loss of a contract to supply Asda was the “root cause” of the move.
