SPAIN: Carrefour’s Spanish unit plans €300m expansion

Centros Comerciales Carrefour España, a unit of French supermarket giant Carrefour, is reported to be planning to invest €300m (US$330.9m) in new stores in 2003.
The retailer is planning to open four hypermarkets, 29 supermarkets, 13 petrol stations, ten optician’s shops and five travel agencies, reported Dow Jones International News, citing Spanish press reports.
Carrefour España is targeting a 4-5% increase in sales in 2003 and double-digit earnings growth before interest and taxes.
