Nestle started to roll out Maggi noodles in the Indian market today (9 November) following a five-month ban.

Nestle was forced to recall its Maggi brand this summer when the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and some state food safety regulators claimed the product contained levels of lead higher than those permitted by Indian regulations. The company challenged the ban in the Bombay High Court, insisting that its own and independent tests did not detect high lead levels.

They are enthusiastic about the reintroduction of Maggi noodles and are helping us in ensuring that our beloved Maggi noodles are available to consumers soon.”

Separately, the group revealed it is partnering with Snapdeal to roll out online offers to promote Maggi's return.

The resumption of Maggi sales follow two testing rounds ordered by the Bombay High Court, both of which returned negative for lead.
