R&R Ice Cream is developing a new ice cream range with Tesco after the UK retailer delisted Chokablok ice cream, the brand the two companies had created three years ago.

Chokablok ice cream was among Tesco’s “venture brands”, a set of products it launched in 2011. The products were not own-label lines and did not carry the retailer’s name. However, they were positioned as brands in their own right and sought to identify gaps in categories Tesco believed conventional brands had not fully exploited.

Confectionery products sold under the Chokablok name are still available, according to the tesco.com website.

A spokesperson for R&R Ice Cream said: “It has been on the market for some three and a half years but consumer trends and market dynamics change. We are now pleased to be working with Tesco on a new ice cream range.”

The spokesperson declined to comment further on why Chokablok ice cream had been delisted or on the plans for the new ice cream range.

Officials at Tesco did not reply to requests for comment.
