US firm Ancient Harvest is expanding its breakfast range with the launch of a line of hot cereals.

The organic quinoa and ancient grain products company said the new range – which is organic and GMO-free – features a blend of quinoa, millet, amaranth and gluten-free rolled oats.

It is available in five flavours: apple cinnamon, banana and brown sugar, maple morning, honey vanilla spice and traditional.

The grains can be prepared on the stove or in the microwave and only require water to be added.

“Today’s consumers are constantly on the go so finding the time to make a hot meal in the morning can be a challenge,” said Constance Roark, director of marketing. “We believe a quick breakfast doesn’t have to mean skimping on nutrition. All five varieties of our hot cereal are made with whole grains, are a good source of fibre and include five to seven grams of protein per serving.”

A pack of six sachets has an MSRP of US$6.99, the company added.
