Weetabix has announced it is to make 30 redundancies in the UK after reaching the end of a consultation process it began in April.
The Alpen, Ready Brek and Weetos owner had warned UK staff it would make changes to shift patterns and pay, a move believed to be prompted by increasing pressure from supermarket own-brands and discount food retailers in the UK.

A spokesperson today confirmed to just-food the company had asked for 30 voluntary redundancies at the sites in Northamptonshire, adding it was “the first time it has done so since 2007”.
Giles Turrell, CEO of Weetabix, said: “We’re one of Northamptonshire’s leading employers and committed to our local community. It is seven years since we last offered voluntary redundancies and with the support of our trade union we’re hopeful this route will prove the least disruptive to our colleagues.”
Meanwhile, last month, the firm announced it would be outsourcing its specialist cleaning activities at the Northamptonshire sites.
