Mondelez International has opened a new production line for its Milka chocolates at its plant in Austria.

The line was installed at the Bludenz factory and officially started operations on 11 July.

It produces Milka Alpine Milk big-size tablets and Milka Cookie tablets for the European market and has been installed to increase capacity a spokesperson told just-food. The company could not provide details on the site's previous output. However, the new line will produce 350,000 tablets a day.

The spokesperson added Mondelez has invested EUR45m (US$49.3m) in the Bludenz chocolate factory in recent years. The Bludenz factory is its third largest in Europe and produces Milka and Suchard chocolate.
