The US and South Korea have struck a deal that will allow products certified as organic in either country can be sold as such as both markets.

The “equivalency” agreement means suppliers will no longer have to obtain separate certifications to market organic products in each country.

“Korea is a growing, lucrative market for US organic products, and this arrangement increases demand for American organic products,” US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said.

The US has struck similar deals with the EU and Japan in recent years. It is South Korea’s first such agreement with another nation.
