The company said the main benefit of acquiring Sibirsky Syr is its 1,900 square metres of warehouses and 5,500 square metres of refridgerators, which are accessible by road and rail and are situated near to Wimm-Bill-Dann’s main Siberian milk-producing plant, Sibirskoe Moloko, in the city of Novobirsk.

Wimm-Bill-Dann said the acquisition would allow the company to save on rent of warehouses and offices and also improve the logistical base for Sibirskoe Moloko, reported Dow Jones News.

Wimm-Bill-Dann has also purchased 85% of Tuimazy Dairy Plant in Bashkortostan for $1.5m. The plant, which employs around 300 people, processes around 285 tonnes of milk per day, and produces whole milk, fermented milk products, sour cream, butter and processed cheeses, reported Interfax.
