AUSTRALIA: Agriculture minister says no federal assistance for redundant meat workers – MEMBERS
Workers affected by the recent shutdown of Rockhampton’s Lakes Creek meatworks cannot expect to receive any federal assistance, said agriculture minister Warren Truss. Truss explained to ABC News that workers can have access to the usual unemployment benefits, but that they should not expect any other support because the Meat Industry Union caused the closure by vying for “unreasonable pay and working conditions”.
