TreeHouse Foods, the US own-label group, today (3 November) announced two senior management changes – the resignation of president Chris Sliva and the appointment of a new CFO.

Sliva, who was moved from his role as COO to president in August, has resigned to “pursue another career opportunity”, TreeHouse said.

Dennis Riordan, who TreeHouse announced in August planned to retire from his role as CFO, has agreed to remain with the company and serve as president while the company seeks a permanent replacement for Sliva. Riordan will have oversight of both of the operating companies – Bay Valley Foods and TreeHouse private brands.

“Dennis is the natural person to step into the president role in the interim.  He has been a key contributor to our strategy and is familiar with all aspects of our business. Dennis will ensure continuity and operational excellence, and maintain the company’s relentless focus on customers, categories, consumers and organisational capabilities while a permanent successor is found,” chairman and CEO Sam Reed said.

Matthew Foulston will take over as CFO and executive vice president on 2 December. He joins TreeHouse from Compass Minerals International, where he also served as CFO.

Foulston will join TreeHouse as it works to integrate the private-label business it acquired from ConAgra Foods last year. The company said today in a separate announcement the unit failed to meet expectations during the third quarter.

Reed said Foulston will play a “key” role in  implementing the group’s “simplification” efforts. “As we continue the integration of private brands, Matthew will be a key partner in our organisation and will be instrumental to our growth and simplification initiatives.  Matthew’s large public company background in the automotive industry will serve us well as we enter the next phase of our company’s growth,” Reed said.
