Health Made Easy, the owner of UK wholesaler Tree of Life, has snapped up Freshly Cut, the local company behind mints and gum brand Peppersmith, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is Health Made Easy’s latest move to add brands to its portfolio following the acquisition earlier this year of vitamins and supplements supplier Higher Nature.

Peppersmith mints and gums are supplied to UK retailers including Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. The products do not contain sugar with the xylitol sweetener used instead.

In a statement, Health Made Easy said Peppersmith would “benefit from the resource and distribution strength of HME Group and especially through the position of Tree of Life and its reputation in the health-focused sector”.

Michael Cole, Health Made Easy’s chairman, added: “This is another acquisition for us to add to our portfolio and we have exciting plans to grow the Peppersmith brand using our distribution and marketing platform.”
