Danish Crown-owned Dalehead Foods is seeking to appoint 40 new workers at its meat processing Lincolnshire site in the UK.

The recruitment drive in the town of Spalding comes on the back of increased production at Danish Crown’s subsidiary Tulip, which is consolidating its position as the UK’s ”leading producer of high-welfare pork”, according to a statement.

An open day will take place in May for skilled and unskilled workers to join its team from June as butchers at the Spalding plant, which currently employs 550 people.

Abigail Brewin, HR manager at Dalehead Foods, said: “We’re pleased to announce this recruitment drive, showing our on-going commitment as a major local employer in the Spalding area. The Dalehead Foods’ site in Spalding has a great team spirit and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and progress with a career in the food industry.”

While the Tulip arm is creating jobs in the north of England, employees in the south of the country have been hit with job losses. Only a few weeks ago, Tulip said it may have to reduce its 320 workforce at its plant in Bodmin, Cornwall, by about 170.
