Announcing another chip at the foundations of China’s 1960’s Cultural Revolution, US fastfood giant Kentucky Fried Chicken has said it will next month open the country’s first drive-through KFC, in Beijing.

The heirs of US poultry magnate Colonel Saunders said that they were targeting the capital’s booming daily traffic flow, which has now reached 1.8 million vehicles, according to government figures released this month.

“China-KFC can’t miss the chance in advance while the number of private car owners continues to grow in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Beijing,” said a spokesperson for Kentucky Fried Chicken’s local partner, Yum Restaurants Company.
