Snack manufacturer McCoy’s is set to launch a new line of lager flavoured crinkle-cut crisps next month, produced using real brewing yeast and hops.

“Obviously they’re not going to have the same fresh taste as real lager,” McCoy’s admitted to the Financial Times, “But they do grow on you.”

The company explained that seeing as its crisps are sold mainly in pubs, and that “they seem to go with a pint of lager, a lager-flavoured version seemed a natural progression”.

McCoy’s added that the new flavour will be aimed at male consumers, and launched to coincide with the start of the new football season.
