SAUDI ARABIA: Twenty-year-old ban on South African meat lifted
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Commerce said yesterday [Sunday] that it is lifting the current ban on imports of meat from South Africa. The ban was imposed in 1982 over concerns that South African meat was infected with cattle plague. Officials revealed that the decision to lift the ban came after Saudi health authorities carried out an inspection in South Africa at the beginning of last month.
