US-based Case Farms Chicken is considering expanding its poultry plant in Winesburg, Ohio.
The Troutman, North Carolina-based business is staying tight-lipped about the details but media reports have suggested it is planning to spend US$126m to renovate and expand the plant to increase its processing capacity.
Those reports suggest a 26,000 sq-ft extension will be built onto the existing facility and a 154,000 sq-ft storage freezer that will have the capacity to hold 20 million pounds of poultry added.
They also suggest some 193 new permanent positions will be created as a result.
Case Farms, which provides poultry to the retail, foodservice and industrial channels, currently operates four facilities.
In a statement sent to just-food, Case Farms said: “Case Farms is examining expansion at its poultry operations in Winesburg, Ohio, to meet the growing demands of customers.”
