Slovenian retail chain Spar has opened a 2.7bn tolar (US$11.6m) hypermarket in Velenje, central Slovenia. Spar, which is a subsidiary of Dutch retailer Interspar, started construction on the new store in March 2002. The company has a 15% market share in Slovenia and opened seven new stores in the first nine months of 2002.
