Dutch retailer Ahold has announced that its Brazilian unit Bompreco has acquired nine out of fourteen assets from Brazilian supermarket chain Lusitana.
Included in Bompreco’s purchase are six supermarkets, a hypermarket, a distribution centre and a department store all in northeastern Brazil.
The 800 staff working at the sites will continue to be employed.
The deal is still subject to regulatory approval, reported Reuters News.
