A&P supermarkets operator Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co has announced that its president and COO Elizabeth Culligan has resigned amid management restructuring.
The company also announced that it is to divide its retail operations into two units, A&P US and A&P Canada, in order to save its struggling US stores.
Brian Piwek, former president and CEO of A&P Canada is to take on the role of president and CEO of A&P US, while Eric Claus, former president of Co-op Atlantic, will succeed Piwek at A&P Canada.
Earlier this month, A&P reported a financial second-quarter operating loss of 26 cents a share, compared with a loss of 5 cents a share a year earlier, as results suffered from low consumer confidence and a price war with competitors, reported Associated Press Newswires.
