Cacique has acquired El Sol Foods, another US business selling Mexican-style foods in the country – and added another type of product to its portfolio.

The deal, agreed for undisclosed terms, will see Cacique, home to a range of cheese, creams, and chorizos, buy salsa maker El Sol Foods.

Cacique told just-food salsas co-branded El Sol by Cacique will be launched this spring “in markets with current distribution”. It added: “In new markets, Cacique branding will be used.”

El Sol Foods’ office and manufacturing facility will remain in Gilbert in Arizona. Ryan Bullock, the president of El Sol Foods, will “remain involved focusing on product development”, Cacique said.

In a statement, Cacique CEO Gil de Cárdenas added: “We’re excited to further diversify our portfolio to offer even more key components consumers need to make authentic Mexican meals, and we intend to leverage our expertise and resources to build on El Sol’s track record of success.”
