Beverage company Coca-Cola Amatil has said it will undertake a review of the SPC Ardmona business if it is successful in its takeover of the Australian fruit processor.

A spokesman for CC Amatil said the review would be based on the strategic plan developed by the Canned Fruits Industry Council of Australia earlier this year. The strategy includes plans to encourage fruit growers to invest in higher-yielding planting systems, new fruit varieties and environmental certification, reported the Australian Financial Review.

CC Amatil also hopes to involve growers by way of SPC Ardmona’s growers liaison committee.

Other ideas the company may investigate for the future of SPC Ardmona are new systems to improve labour productivity in processing and growing and new technology to test fruit quality.
