Food companies’ robotics job hiring declines – data

We look at GlobalData's latest numbers on job postings in the area of robotics.

The proportion of food manufacturing companies hiring for robotics-related positions dropped in August, with 20.6% of the businesses included in our analysis recruiting for at least one such position.

This latest figure was lower than the 24.2% of companies advertising for robotics jobs in July 2021 and a decrease compared to the figure of 21.7% for the equivalent month last year.

However, when it came to the proportion of all job openings that were linked to robotics, related job postings rose in August 2021, with 0.6% of newly-posted job ads being linked to the topic.

This latest figure was the highest monthly figure recorded in the past year and is an increase compared to the 0.5% of newly advertised jobs that were linked to robotics in the equivalent month a year ago.

Robotics is one of the topics that GlobalData, from which our data for this article is taken, has identified as being a key disruptive force facing companies in the coming years. Companies that excel and invest in these areas now are thought to be better prepared for the future business landscape and better equipped to survive unforeseen challenges.

Our analysis of the data shows food manufacturing companies are hiring for robotics jobs at a rate higher than the average for all companies within GlobalData's job analytics database. The average among all companies stood at 0.4% in August 2021.

GlobalData's job analytics database tracks the daily hiring patterns of thousands of companies across the world, drawing in jobs as they're posted and tagging them with additional layers of data on everything from the seniority of each position to whether a job is linked to wider industry trends.

Robotics-related positions listed in the database for August included, for example, a role in IT infrastructure and operations at PepsiCo’s plant in Plano in the US and Kraft Heinz looking for a performance improvement lead in Australia.
