
The global food industry noticed a 9.1% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 over the previous month, led by The J. R. Simplot’s 14.07% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food industry’s overall hiring activity declined 37.01% when compared with May 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.44% share of the global food industry’s hiring activity in June 2022, down 0.15% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2022 were 13.9% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 20.85% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive food IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 30.48% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food hiring activity in June 2022, a 30.94% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 24.69% in June 2022, down 16.36% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 19.17% share in June 2022, a decline of 18.71% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 16.69% share in June 2022 and a drop of 28.82% over May 2022.
Top five food companies by recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 27.23% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food industry during June 2022 over May 2022.
The J. R. Simplot posted 102 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 72.88% over the previous month, followed by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 75 jobs and a 38.52% decline. Nestle with 40 IT jobs and Roofoods with 39 jobs, recorded a 77.65% decline and an 875% rise, respectively, while Rich Products recorded a 5% drop with 38 job postings during June 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food IT hiring activity in June 2022 with a 46.9% share, which marked a 15% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 28.55%, registering a 21.89% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 19.59% share and a 35.75% drop over May 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 4% and a month-on-month drop of 19.44%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.97%, registering a flat growth over the previous month.
