2 Sisters Food Group, the UK-based poultry processor, has confirmed infections of Covid-19 among a number of employees at its plant in Devon, south-west England.
The cases were reported at the company’s Willand facility in the town of Cullompton.
A spokesperson for 2 Sisters, which also owns Fox’s biscuits and Holland’s Pies, said: “We are aware of a small number of positive Covid-19 test results from our colleagues at our Willand site across different departments.
“The health, safety and well-being of all our colleagues as key workers during this time of crisis is of paramount importance to us. Social distancing and enhanced hygiene protocols have been in place for some time.
“We have contact-traced all other colleagues and as you’d expect, robust deep cleaning and disinfecting is being carried out on a daily basis throughout the site.”
Another UK-centric food company, Greencore, also reported a Covid-19 infection this week. The Ireland-based convenience foods manufacturer said on Monday (4 May) an employee at its plant in the Moulton Park area of Northampton had tested positive for Covid-19.
