New Zealand dairy and infant-formula business A2 Milk Co. has appointed Susan Massasso to the newly-appointed role of chief growth and brand officer.

In an announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), on which it is listed, A2 said the new role will encompass broad responsibilities across innovation; new product and market development and quality and regulatory affairs.

The company announced in November that Massasso was to resign as chief marketing officer but she has decided to stay on in an expanded role. She will continue to lead the firm’s marketing operation.

A search is underway for a new head of group marketing who will report to Massasso.

Shareef Khan, chief operations officer, has been leading the technical team on an interim basis until this change and will continue to oversee the quality activities in conjunction with Massasso who has already started in her new role.

In December, Jayne Hrdlicka stepped down as managing director and CEO of A2 Milk just two years after she was appointed.
