American Seafoods has appointed Tyson Foods director Mikel Durham to the post of CEO.

Announcing the appointment, American Seafood highlighted Durham’s “deep experience” in the consumer packaged foods and foodservice sectors.

Durham is currently an independent member of the Tyson board. Previously, Durham served as global growth officer at PepsiCo’s foodservice division, president of Burger King North America, president of supply chain at Cadbury Schweppes prior to its acquisition by the then Kraft Foods, and chief commercial officer at CSM Bakery Solutions.

American Seafoods said its current CEO and chairman, Bernt Bodal, will continue to chair the board.

“I am delighted to welcome Mikel Durham to the American Seafoods family,” said Bodal. “Mikel is a talented foodservice and consumer products executive with a proven track record of strong performance. I look forward to working closely with her to build greater awareness and demand for the healthy and sustainably harvested wild seafood products we produce.”

“American Seafoods is a leader in supplying high-quality, sustainably harvested, and healthy wild-caught seafood products throughout the world,” stated Durham. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with this dynamic organisation to further realise its growth objectives.”
