Nestle has opened its first facility in Angola, which it says will act as a “finishing centre” for its Nido milk powder.

The CHF16m (US$16.5m) facility in Luanda will eventually be extended to also manufacture products including Nescafe, it said today (8 August).

The facility is part of a three-year CHF150m investment programme Nestle launched in Equatorial Africa in 2010.

It is expected to create 50 new jobs by the end of its first year of operations, with local people being recruited for the majority of positions.
