UK-based coconut snacks brand Ape Snacks has seen three of its products listed by retailer Sainsbury’s, its first listing with one of the country’s four largest grocers.

Ape Snacks’ Lightly Salted Curls and Natural Bites are going into 548 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide. The company’s Salted Chocolate Curls are going to be sold in 129 Sainsbury’s Local convenience stores.

Ape Snacks said the move will mean a 20% increase in distribution points in the UK. It sells into retailers including Whole Foods Market, Boots and Planet Organic, as well as online shopping site Ocado.

The company claim its products tap into consumer demand for a “delicious and satisfying snack that doesn’t compromise on health”.

They feature only natural ingredients, are gluten free and high in fibre without added sugar.

Founder Zack Nathan said: “The brand has grown so much since we first started and to be present in one of the biggest supermarkets in the UK means we are able to reach a much more extensive audience and give our shoppers a convenient place to get their favourite snacks.”

The Crunchy Coconut Bites have a RRP of GBP1.50 (US$1.99) for a 30g standing pouch and the Coconut Curls GBP1 for a 20g bag.
