Perdigão has denied reports that Brasil Foods (BRF) would be interested in acquiring Argentinean dairy group La Serenísima.
Created by the merger of Perdigão and Sadia, BRF will be the world’s largest poultry company.
“Perdigão wishes to clarify that there is no foundation in national and international news media reports on an eventual interest that BRF may have in acquiring the Argentine dairy products company, La Serenísima,” Perdigão said.
The company emphasised that it is not currently engaged in negotiations over the possible acquisition and the reports published of recent are “purely speculative in nature”.
Last month, La Serenísima told just-food it had held talks with French food giant Danone over a possible new business venture between the two companies.
