European dairy giant Arla Foods has appointed Jan Toft Nørgaard as chairman to replace Ake Hantoft, who retires in July after seven years in the role.
Nørgaard moves up the chain of command from vice president of Arla Foods amba, a position he has held since 2011. He has been an elected member of the Arla cooperative since 1996 and was elected to the group board in 2000.
Arla said in a statement today (25 May) that a new vice chairman should be named by 2 July, the same date that Hantoft is due to retire.
Nørgaard said: ”I am honoured by the confidence the board of directors has shown me. I am humble about the task I take on as chairman and I look forward to working closely with the board and the management of the company on continuing the development of Arla Foods.”
Hantoft’s retirement from the Lurpak owner had already been flagged back in December but was only officially announced earlier this month, when he said: “It has been one of the greatest honours of my professional life to lead the Arla Foods amba business and be part of its growth and development over the last seven years, for the benefit of its owners, employees and customers.”
