European and Asian retailers are expected to submit bids for Carrefour‘s Asian assets, with first round offers due on Wednesday, according to reports.

Reuters reported that Casino and Diary Farm were among the companies expected to submit bids on the some US$1bn worth of assets.

Other parties rumoured to be interested in the sale include Tesco, Berli Jucker and Thailand’s biggest energy company PTT.

The news follows months of speculation over the retailer’s plans in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
