Australian chilled beef exports to South Korea rose to a record high of A$3.8m (US$2.1m) in September, according to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

Ben Russell, MLA regional manager for Korea, attributed the climb in value to an increasingly liberalised South Korean market and the expansion of Australian beef promotion campaigns.

529 tonnes of chilled beef were exported from Australian to Korea, resulting in a year-to-date total of 3,515 tonnes worth $26.5m, compared to 702 tonnes worth $7m in the same period last year, reported Reuters.
