Craig Kinder said the actions of the two dairy companies are selling suppliers short. Kinder cited the example of a buyer in Taiwan. Both companies have agents in Taiwan and deal exclusively through them instead of individual buyers, so the buyer eventually sourced his product from the heavily subsidised US sector.


At a time when the coops are telling suppliers they will have to accept lower prices, Kinder’s indignation is likely to be reflected through the dairy farming sector.


Australian Dairy Corporation industry relations officer John McKew said it was common practice for dairy companies to work exclusively through an agent in countries where they exported.
