Sanitarium will be in charge of the marketing, distribution, product development and quality control of items sold under the brand, said businessman Dick Smith yesterday [Tuesday].

Smith added that the philanthropic policies of Sanitarium will be blended with his brand through the deal. The range will grow while maintaining support for its Australian-owned philosophy and under the trading name Dick Smith Foods, the new company will have to pay a percentage of sales back to Dick Smith to be distributed to charities.

Sanitarium’s COO David Iredale said that a “standalone” subsidiary will be established to manage Dick Smith Foods.
