Australian retail giant Coles Supermarkets told the magistrates court in Launceston yesterday [Monday] that it is not guilty of selling food unfit for human consumption.

The retailer found itself facing charges together with Dairy Bell Ice Cream after a medical dressing was allegedly found in a two-litre container of Savings Ice Cream.

The product was purchased on 3 December last year, at a Coles store in Mowbray.

Magistrate Peter Wilson adjourned the hearing until 24 October.
