A delegation led by Australia’s minister for trade and investment, Andrew Robb, hopes to “strengthen and explore” business opportunities in India for Australian food makers.
Australia Business Week in India will run from 12 to 15 February, the Australian Trade Commission revealed. The trade mission will see Robb visiting Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Pune.
“The programmes reinforce the message that Australia is open for business and help Australian businesses identify and strengthen relationships with Indian businesses,” the ATC said. “ABWI targets industry sectors where Indian demand best aligns with Australian capability.”
The ATC aims to foster awareness of Australia’s “premium” food and beverage makers and agribusiness.
Announcing the business mission, Robb said: “India is an emerging economy that is already a significant investor in Australia and our fifth-largest export market. With a new Indian government committed to modernisation and economic growth expected to reach 5.4% in 2014-2015, it is a country that has so many untapped opportunities.”
