Many frozen chicken products sold in Australia actually only contain about 50% bird meat, according to a survey conducted by consumer magazine Choice.
The magazine has reported that many products marketed as chicken breast fillets contained only 52% whole chicken meat, with 48% made up of pieces of “formed” meat retrieved from all over the bird and melded together.
Other products guilty of using around 50% padding in this manner included most chicken nuggets and other “snack style” products, said Choice.
