A move to secure the future of the leatherwood honey industry has reached the second phase of negotiations today (2 November) with the signing of an agreement between Forestry Tasmania and beekeepers from the area. The Tasmanian Beekeepers Association is hoping to establish the basis for liaison on the management, planning and administration of the dwindling leatherwood forest area, preserving the resources by creating zones for planting and selective logging.
