AUSTRALIA: Metcash Q1 trading in line with expectations
Australian grocery wholesaler Metcash has said that trading in the first quarter of its 2003/04 fiscal year was in line with expectations. "The group's trading results for the first three months of the current financial year are in line with expectation, despite difficult market conditions," chairman Carlos Santos said.

Separately, chief executive Andrew Reitzer forecast profit growth in the middle double-digit range, and sales growth in the middle to high single-digit range, reported Dow Jones International News.
