A survey by Australia’s Federal Government has revealed that Australians are becoming more accepting of genetically modified food.

Craig Cormick, spokesman for Biotechnology Australia, said 44% of Australians believed GM food would be more widely accepted and less risky within the next few years but people still thought the risks outweighed the benefits.


“Both our research and other research by ACNielsen shows support is increasing,” he said.
 
Cormick indicated that most Australians just wanted more time and information: “There were some people supportive of it, some people who were against it and a lot of people fell in the `just don’t know category”.
