A new strategy thought out by the Food Industry Council of Australia is paving the way for annual turnover of the food and beverage industry in Tasmania to reach A$3.4bn from A$1.7bn, doubling production and focusing on value adding, volumes, quality and pricing.


Launched yesterday (18 December) by Jim Bacon, chairman of the new food council and Tasmanian premier, the state hopes to capitalise on its “clean and green” reputation, and enter lucrative offshore markets.
