Australia-based infant formula and baby food producer Wattle Health has secured a foothold in the Indian market after reaching a distribution deal with local firm Vasudevan and Sons Exim Private Ltd.
Wattle Health Australia has received its first order from Chennai-based Vasudevan and Sons for its 100% natural baby food range using Australian fruit and vegetables, according to a statement. The company supplies infant formula under its Goldcare brand and also makes a range of milk powders.
With the Indian deal, Wattle Health expands its international presence, particularly in Asia, where it is already supplying products into China. Its strategy is to continue to grow its distribution network both domestically and globally.
The Australia-listed company said the doors to India opened after it successfully passed the country’s stringent regulations on food imports.
“This order has allowed Wattle Heath to enter one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic economies,” said executive chairman Lazarus Karasavvidis. “We will take advantage of this opportunity to enter the Indian market and use it to increase distribution channels for our baby food range.
“We will also look to grow our presence and increase our footprint in this exciting market.”
