Austrian dairy processors Tirol Milch and Berglandmilch are reportedly in talks over a merger that would create the country’s largest dairy group.

According to reports today (15 June), directors from both sides have discussed the possibility of a deal.

Over the next two months, farmer members of both co-operatives will meet to vote on the merger.

Austria’s competition watchdog would also need to take a look at the companies’ plans, reports say.

According to the APA news agency, Berglandmilch is Austria’s largest dairy, while Tirol Milch is the country’s fourth largest.
