UK-based private-label business Bakkavor is creating 200 jobs at its bakery division across two sites in the north-west of England amid rising consumer demand.

Bakkavor Bread has launched a recruitment drive for the factory positions at its plants in Crewe and Nantwich, both located in Cheshire.

The two sites, which already employ more than 670 people, produce more than 11m bread items each week with an average of 50 different types of product being run at any one time, according to a statement issued yesterday (12 September).

Paul Peachey, the business director for Bakkavor Bread and Pizza, said: “Bakkavor Bread continues to expand and the recruitment drive announced today shows that demand for our delicious chilled breads continues to grow.”

Earlier this month, Bakkavor revealed its purchase of Haydens Bakery from fellow UK food business Real Good Foods for GBP12m (US$15.5m). Haydens produces baked tarts, pies and crumbles, Danish pastries, sweet buns and doughnuts.
