Belgian competition authorities have given the go-ahead to the intended takeover of certain units belonging to Dutch retailer Laurus by Belgian discount retailer Colruyt.

Under the takeover deal Colruyt is set to acquire 26 stores and all the wholesale activities of Laurus’ Belgian unit, including those operating under the Spar and Eurospar banners, two distribution centres and four cash and carry stores.

Legal and financial due diligence is now being carried out and the deal is set to be finalised around the end of April this year.
