German group Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has acquired Compex, a Belgian supplier of solutions for the planning and execution level for the batch process industry. The move brings Siemens new expertise in the field of IT solutions for the food industry.

As production processes, storage and resource planning in the food manufacturing sector becomes more reliant on technology, there are huge gains to be made by companies which offer customisable solutions for plants of different sizes.


While physically remaining in Ninove in Belgium, Compex will be run as a worldwide competence centre within the IT Plant Solutions of I&S. The acquisition boosts Siemens#; turnover by around €10m (US$8.8m) and adds 108 employees in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the US.
